JIU JITSU GI

  1. Make sure you wash in cold water. You can maximize the life of your BJJ Gi and minimize shrinkage by hanging it out to dry. If you must use the dryer, use the lowest heat setting or no heat. The dryer will weaken your kimono's fibres and collar, reducing its longevity.

The collar can be destroyed or melted if it is washed in hot water and dried in the hottest setting. BJJ Gis should never be washed or dried above 30 degrees.

  2. Bleach will ruin your BJJ Gi. NEVER use it. If you get blood or a stain of any sort, immediately run cold water over the affected area and scrub it thoroughly. Getting it washed as soon as possible is ideal. In moderate doses, fabric softeners can be used. So long as it does not contain bleach, any softener will do.

  3. DO NOT DRY YOUR BJJ GI UNDER THE SUN. This will dry out the fibres and reduce their durability. Without washing, you can say goodbye to your BJJ Gi. Sweat and the sun will destroy the fabric.

BLACK AND BLUE GIS

  1. As your washer is filling up, add 2-3 cups of white vinegar as it fills up with cold water. Once the water has filled up, submerge the Jiu Jitsu Gis. Allow it to sit in the vinegar/water mixture for 20-30 minutes. As soon as the 20-30 minutes are up, you can begin the washing cycle. If you want, you can add soap. By setting the color with vinegar, fading will be reduced. Over time, colored BJJ kimonos will fade, that's just nature and shows that you've been training hard.

  2. Wash in cold water and use color-safe detergent for subsequent washes. There will be a significant increase in fading after using the dryer. Follow the care instructions above.

RASHGUARDS

  1. Always wash in cold water: To preserve the quality and color of your rashguard, it's important to wash it in cold water. Avoid using hot water as it may cause shrinking or fading of the fabric.

  2. DO NOT bleach: Bleaching can damage the fabric of your rashguard, so it's important to avoid using any bleach or bleach-based products when washing. Stick to mild detergents without bleach to clean your rashguard effectively.

  3. DO NOT iron: Rashguards are typically made of stretchy, synthetic materials that do not require ironing. Avoid using any heat, including ironing, as it can melt or warp the fabric.

  4. Always hang dry: After washing, it's best to hang your rashguard to dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer as the heat and friction can cause damage to the fabric, such as shrinking or pilling. Hang it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight to air dry naturally.
